Coordinator of the Writing Center, Cheshire Academy         Aug 2021- present

Provide visionary leadership for the design and implementation of the Writing Center program, in alignment with the school’s mission, academic program goals, and Writing Center purpose & principles. Coordinate the observation, supervision, documentation and ongoing professional development of staff and student fellows.  Conduct monthly Writing Groups for students and faculty. Coordinate Visiting Authors, including presentations, schedules, and marketing. Oversee Writing Center budget and electronic resource board. Cultivate relationships with Writing Centers at other schools. Serve as a resource to the Admission and Marketing & Communications offices to articulate all facets of the Writing Center. Organize, implement, and facilitate a robust All School Read Experience, including Book Clubs,The All School Read full day programming, and facilitating and supporting faculty and student All School Read committees. Work with external community partners to keep up to date on emerging authors and speakers. Highlight an anti-racist and gender affirmative approach for all constituents.

Lead Teacher Facilitator, American Antiquarian Society Teacher Institute       Aug 2024

Lead week long workshop for teachers on how to utilize primary resources in the classroom. Discuss work with my own archiving interns and model lesson plans for constituents. 

Visiting Scholar, Center for Spiritual and Ethical Education             2022-20223

Worked with the prestigious organization, CSEE (founded in 1898), as their 22-23 Visiting Scholar. One of three Visiting Scholars chosen nationwide, I worked to develop Professional Development for Educators across the country. My focus was: cultivating joy and trust in the classroom and as a teacher leader and supporting youth through grief, all through a DEIJ lens. Developed three nationwide Professional Development opportunities, including envisioning the day, finding and hiring experts, presenting as a scholar myself, and leading the entire day. 


Faculty Liaison for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, Cheshire Academy  Aug 2019-2021

Worked with the Director of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion to help create programmatic responses to DEIJ development at Cheshire Academy. Hosted “courageous conversations” where our faculty could connect more deeply with our school values and encouraged discussions around more belonging in curriculum. Worked with DEI Director to change policy on all gender bathrooms and lead conversations on culturally responsive pedagogy. Hosted listening circles for students and faculty in the summer of 2020. 

Private Tutor for ELL Students                          2008-Present

Tutor reading, writing, and speaking English for international and visiting students, particularly of Chinese nationality. Beginning in 2008 at SCSU’s Writing Center, I have honed my skills of working with international students. I have had regular (at least monthly) appointments with seven native Chinese-speaking students ranging from ages 6-18. Currently, I tutor two students in China via WeChat and help them prepare for their future goal of studying in the US.    

 

Co Director of Bridges Program, Southern Connecticut State University                 2014-2016

This grant program invites local juniors from Wilbur Cross High School to develop college readiness skills through a 3-credit course at Southern Connecticut State University. My co-directing responsibilities for Bridges consisted of making decisions about the structure of the program, overview of the student admittance into the program, hiring, curriculum, and direct correspondence between the New Haven Public School System and Southern Connecticut State University.
